A Good Night’s Sleep

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which is sometimes also referred to as Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS) or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E. or ME), is an illness characterized by prolonged, devastating fatigue and other symptoms, such as sleep disruptions. Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder also characterized by the devastating fatigue and weakness associated with Chronic Fatigue; however, its symptoms can also include muscle tenderness and spasms, sleep disturbances, irritable bowel syndrome, and other body disturbances. Sleep disturbances are associated with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. A good night’s sleep is important for a healthy mental outlook and a healthy body. A joke is one thing. It’s nice to know that the reality is something else entirely. In fact, after pooling the data of 29 studies in which 1,016 people with CFS received various placebos, a new study suggests that if you have CFS, and a treatment does make you feel better, the odds are against it being a placebo effect.

Grassroots Action Center Listserv

cfids sucksThe e-mail alert service, formerly known as C-ACT, now has a name that better reflects the purpose of this advocacy group: the Grassroots Action Center Listserv (GAC listserv). This CFIDS Association’s new Grassroots Action Center has generated almost 10,000 messages of support for increased Chronic Fatigue Syndrome research and awareness to senators, representatives, other members of the federal government, and members of the media.
