We Are Not Alone: Learning to Live with Chronic Illness

by Sefra Kobrin Pitzele

Chlorine Bleach Alternative

Many who cope with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, or other allergies develop sensitivities to chlorine bleach. Chlorine bleach isn't just hard on them, it's also hard on linens; it will break down the fibers and ruin the fabric. Here's an earth-friendly chlorine bleach alternative.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide

PREPARATION:

Mix all ingredients to form a solution, and add to a load of washing.

Important Note: When in doubt, always test on a hidden area of the fabric first.
