| Things to Help You Keep Your Cool
Some climates just make it difficult to keep your cook
when you're outdoors. (Because it'll stay cool for days
without the need for refrigeration or freezing, those in
the know at
ProudPatriots.org tell me that the "Cool Thing Neck
Wrap" is popular with the troops in Iraq and
Afghanistan.)
Keeping cool can also be a problem for those with many
disabling chronic conditions because of anhidrosis.
Anhidrosis is the inability to sweat, important because
without the ability to sweat, the body loses it's
primary means to stay cool. (See the
large misting fan below for what helps for me!)

An Inexpensive Solution
I keep one of these spray bottles
with an attached mini-fan near me at all times -- even
while I'm here at the computer. Like many people with
exercise-intolerant
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia, my normal
body temperature is below normal, so when I'm running a
low-grade fever, it doesn't take much for me to get
overheated. (My mom calls it "weak hot." Mine is
complicated by the fact that I don't perspire -- that
anhidrosis problem mentioned earlier on this page.) |
