Fibromyalgia Treatment Fibromyalgia is a chronic
disorder characterized by musculoskeletal pain; fatigue; weakness; tenderness in localized areas of the neck, spine, shoulders, and hips
sometimes referred to as tender points or pressure points; muscle spasms; sleep disturbances; irritable bowel syndrome; and other body disturbances.
The overlapping allergies, sensitivities, and symptoms from
other conditions that can make diagnosis difficult also
affect how these symptoms are treated. These resources
provide information about the treatments available for

Cause
and Cure Pending: Treat the "Syndrome Subsets" of Chronic Fatigue
Syndrome and Fibromyalgia
Lucinda Bateman, MD
Presented at the October 2003 Chicago Patient Symposium sponsored by the
CFS Society of Illinois, Dr. Bateman -- who came up with the term
"syndrome subsets" for the purpose of describing how, in the absence of
a "magic bullet," I address the symptoms of patients who meet criteria
for CFS/FM -- describes how she takes age, gender, genetics, geographic
location, underlying or associated diseases (from straightforward to
atypical, subtle or overlapping), personality, mood state, medication
side effects, insurance and disability status-not to mention the varied
ways the symptoms of the CFS and FM case definitions are manifest into
consideration when she determines how to develop individual management
approaches for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia patients.
